“DJ Switch Is Inexperienced And Not Matured Enough To Be Given Awards” – DJ Ashmen

Published

on

DJ Ashmen, a popular Ghanaian disc jockey, has stated that Dj Switch should be given more time to gain experience and skill before receiving awards.

DJ Switch was named Best DJ of the Year in 2019 and Young DJ of the Year in 2020 for the second year in a row.

However, he has criticized the voting process used by the organizers of the Ghana DJ Awards, arguing that the winners should be chosen solely on the basis of their expertise, allowing the proper people to win.

DJ Ashmen spoke exclusively to Elsie Lamar on Talkertainment:

“She could earn the most votes, therefore she’ll win automatically. However, if an award system like the Ghana DJ Awards intends to judge a DJ’s success based on their experience, I don’t think she has a chance. Because she is in the same category as mature and experienced DJs, I believe they may make a difference by looking at the person’s experience rather than voting.”

He also expressed his displeasure with how the 12-year-old DJ was introduced to such a vocation at such a young age, claiming that it amounted to child labor.

“ With someone like DJ Switch, if you’re under the age of 18, you won’t be permitted to attend the club or any other place where DJs work at night. It’s a form of child labor. Her parents should keep an eye on it since She’s not supposed to go out at 10 p.m., Dj Ashmen ended.

Beyoncé’s ‘Formation’ Video Named Greatest Video Of All Time

Published

on

The ‘Beyhive’ have one new bragging right in their corner and they do not know how to act. Rolling Stone decided to award Beyoncé as the music video goat.

Rolling Stone came up with a list of the top 100 music videos and ‘Formation’ by Beyoncé took the top spot.

Other artistes like Jonny Cash made the second position with ‘Hurt’, Madonna made the third position with ‘Vogue’, Childish Gambino’s ‘This is America’ came in 4th and the ‘Perfect Kiss’ by New Order came in 5th.

No African music video made the list and this is a cause for worry as we can’t tell if it is a clear case of our artist being underrated or the sheer lack of creativity in African showbiz.

There were mixed reactions however as some agreed that she is the greatest to ever do it but the ‘Formation’ video is not even her best video. Some also were of the opinion that Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ and remember the time should have made the topmost spot but some thought times have changed and music videos have come a long way so it was understandable.

Given that Micheal Jackson was not in the top 5, commentators were in mixed feelings about the list because many are of the opinion that he is arguably the greatest entertainer of all time.

Congratulations are in order to Beyoncé and all who made the list. It is a testimony that visuals can go a long way to solidify an artist and most should take a cue from this and invest in their music video.

Ghanaian artistes can learn from this and invest in creative directors who actually know what they are doing and give them visuals that can stand the test of time.

Till then, lists like these will not even find us in the top 500 because we think shooting videos on our iPhones in our friend’s living room with all the boys drinking alcohol and bumping fists while we lip sync is standard enough to gain any type of honour.
