Ambulance driver shot by robbers while transporting woman in labour dies

An ambulance driver who was shot by a group of highway armed robbers while transporting a woman in labour from the Akuse Government Hospital to the Eastern Regional Hospital, Koforidua, has died.

Mr Abraham Tetteh died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra on Saturday, 6 February 2021.

Until his death, he was a Senior Emergency Medical Technician and the Yilo Krobo Municipal Officer in charge of the National Ambulance Service.

A group of highway armed robbers, on Thursday, 4 February 2021, shot the ambulance driver.

The incident occurred at about 1 am when the Ghana Ambulance Service driver refused to stop when he bumped into a highway robbery operation on the Somanya-Adukrom road.

The armed robbers then opened fire upon seeing the beacon light thinking it was a Police vehicle and shot the driver in the head.

The robbers however after realising that it was not a Police vehicle drew closer to the Ambulance and demanded money from the EMT personnel who was attending to the woman in labour.

They took away a mobile phone and GHS11 from the EMT personnel.

The ambulance driver was taken to the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital by a victim of the Highway robbery who was aboard one of the vehicles involved together with the woman in labour.

The driver was later referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

Recall that we earlier reported on Ibrah One coming out with a name for the New Patriotic Party (NPP)?

According to Ibrah One, the NPP is now referred to as the the “Wheelchair Party”. He also disclosed that he would not be surprised if on 7th January, 2021 Nana Addo comes out with old recordings claiming he was sworn in as President like Jean Mensah Did.

Some section of Ghanaians were of the view that the EC boss declaring Nana Addo as the President Elected was pre-recorded but guess what, the EC came out to debunk such rumors. Renowned journalist, Israel Laryea also shared some pictures which proved the EC went live in declaring Nana Addo as the President Elect but Ibrah One still seems to be in doubt.

Well, in a latest post which has been sighted by Pinaxonline.com, Ibrah One alleged that The EC boss Jean Mensah was taken to Wenchi and guess what, she was bathed in cow dung in order to prevent her from being cross-examined in court.

He added that God is going to expose the EC boss adding that, Afari Gyan who was then the EC Boss mounted the witness box in 2012.

This is what he had to say;

”They took Jane mensa to Wenchi to bath her with cow shit just to prevent her to stand in the box, God will expose her, even Afari Gyan stood in that witness box in 2102.#Ibrahone”

Akyem Asafo accident death toll rises to 19

Three more people have died from the Akyem Asafo accident that occurred Friday dawn.

This takes the death toll to 19.

The crash, which was between two VIPs on the Accra-Kumasi highway, claimed 16 lives on the spot.

Some of the bodies were dismembered.

About five ambulances rushed to the scene to convey the injured to nearby hospitals at Asafo, Kyebi and surrounding areas.

Also, heavy-duty vehicles converged on the scene to help with rescue efforts and clear the area of the wreckage.

The accident is said to have happened as one of the buses attempted overtaking the other.

The buses were two Kia Granbirds – one with registration number GT 5629-18 with passengers headed to Kumasi from Accra and the other with registration number GE 5510-15.

Both drivers were among the dead.

Some locals say a three-year-old was among the dead.

The other passengers who survived with life-threatening injuries were ferried to the Suhum Government Hospital and Akyem Asafo Health Centre for emergency treatment.

The bodies had to be extricated from the concertinaed buses by a team of first responders made up of police, firefighters and paramedics from Suhum, Bunso, Kibi, and Ayensuano.

They have been deposited at the Suhum Government Hospital mortuary.

Some residents at Dzodze/ penyi in the Ketu North municipality expressed mixed feelings on Wednesday towards the arrival of the covid-19 vaccine.

On Wednesday February, 24, 2021, the health minister designate Mr Kwaku Aggeman- Many led a government delegation to receive the first batch of covid-19 vaccines Astrazeneca at the Kotoka international airport which arrived at 7am GMT.

In an interview with residents in Dzodze/ Penyi some residents admitted that coronavirus impede the progress of the country and it was a good idea to receive the vaccine, which would help to improve the health condition of the people and therefore ready to partake in the vaccination exercise.

Others who kicked against the vaccine, said is a trap to get them killed by the vaccine so they’re not ready to partake in the vaccination, some also said government officials must first take the vaccination before they can also take.
“I’ll only take the vaccine if government officials and their family members take it and nothing happened to them, Richmond Lanyo.

Meanwhile speaking to the Deputy Volta regional health director Dr, Senanu Dzokoto on the issue he said what the people need is intensive education and they’re ready to educate the public on why people who are entitled to the vaccine must partake in the vaccination. He also said he is willing to take the vaccination in public just to prove to the people that the vaccine is harmless.
He advised everyone to keep adhering to Covid-19 protocols
