V/R: Three arrested for attempting to sell dead body to fetish priest

The Volta Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects for allegedly murdering a 30-year-old man, Albert Anyinado, and attempting to sell the body to a fetish priest.

The suspects are Kalefe Korku, 42, Afedo Kpotor, 21, and Ametoke Sitsofe, 27.

The facts are that the three suspects informed a fetish priest of Agbozume that they had a dead body they were offering for sale and needed his assistance to get a buyer.

The police was informed they feigned interest in the deal and negotiated to buy the dead body at GHs 7000.00.

The fake buyer agreed to meet the suspects at Agavedzi near the lagoon to receive the dead body.

But suspects upon sighting the police abandoned the dead body and attempted to escape.

The Police subsequently pursued and arrested all the three suspects in their various houses at Agavedzi, Agbozume and Adina.

The Body has been deposited at Ketu South Municipal Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy. Suspects are currently in custody assisting Police with investigations.

A VIP bus returning from Kumasi to a Section of the Upper West Region has been involved in an accident with over 10 people losing their lives

As reported from Jirapa, Confirmed Information reaching Core News Ghana has it that a VIP bus with Registration Number 5693-15 traveling into the Upper West Region from Kumasi is involved in a fatal accident.

Reports say over 10 persons have lost their lives.

Soldier sent on anti-galamsey duties rapes teenager in a bush

A military man on anti-galamsey operations is in the grips of the Wassa Akropong District police for allegedly raping an 18-year-old lady at Yaw Gyimakrom near Hemang in the Western Region

Police confirmed to MyNewsGh.com that the victim (Name withheld) and the boyfriend Bismarck Antwi were returning home from a galamsey site located at Yaw Gyimakrom near Hemang when the incident happened.

According to the police, on reaching a section of the rough road, they met 2 military men and they asked her to show them where the Excavator Machine was operating and escorted both towards a certain galamsey site.

As she was directing the two soldiers to the site, another troop of Soldiers arrived at the scene and arrested the boyfriend.

One of the soldiers then lured her into the bush and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her and bolted.

The victim managed to come out from the bush to meet Bismark Antwi the boyfriend and, informed him about her sexual encounter with the military man.

An Identification parade was made by the detachment Commander of Team one Sergeant Owusu Darkwah Peter on hearing the issue and the victim identified Number 202843 AB1 Abdul – Latif as her assailant.

A Police Medical Report Form was issued to the victim to attend hospital for examination and endorsement

Police investigators visited the crime scene and saw footprints on the ground which suggests that the incident happened at that spot. A yellow bag which the victim was holding before the incident was seen a few meters from the spot.

Suspect AB1 Abdul – Latif was brought to the Station by the said detachment Commander and he was re-arrested and detained but later cautioned and released on police inquiry bail to the detachment Commander to be reporting periodically until the final determination of the matter.

A/R: One robber shot dead, two others in custody

The Ashanti Regional Police Command on Thursday, December 2, 2021, arrested two robbers and shot one other dead at Oseikrom.

A statement by the Police on Saturday December 4 said the patrol team responded to a distress call at about 7:30 AM that a gang of robbers had attacked some miners near Oseikrom.

“While the Police were approaching , the gang opened fire on them . The Police also returned fire leading to the death of one while the rest fled the scene,” the statement said.

It added “At about noon the same day two persons , Richard Nkrumah alias Papa Yaw and Alex Appiah alias Ameley who were part of the robbery gang were arrested through intelligence-led operation.”
