Ghanaian actor cum politician, John Dumelo has disclosed that he was paid 20,000 old Ghana cedi’s (Ghc2.00) for his first movie.

According to John, his first movie was titled ‘Baby Thief’ which he acted with his sister.

In an exclusive interview on the ‘Y Leaderboard Series’ with Rev Erskine on Y107.9FM, the actor said, “Earning that sum back then was a big deal. 20,000 old cedi’s back then was of a higher value than its equivalent now.”

When asked how he spent the money, he disclosed that he and his sister spent the money on “chicken at a popular place in Tema called Mayflower” back then.

Mr. Dumelo revealed that he used to cry after the ‘Baby Thief’ movie because his friends used to tease him.

Dumelo has been in the movie business for 23 years and counting and is now aspiring to be the Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

For the first time, just like many outdoor activities, the 2020 Ghana Movie Awards was held virtually on December 30, 2020, to award deserving filmmakers.

With the likes of Van Vicker, Bernard Adusei Poku and Roselyn Ngissah all winning awards, the movies “Heroes Of Africa and Yvonne Nelson’s “Fix Us’ were top winners.

Nigerian actress Temi Otedola was also awarded for her role in the movie “Citation.” She won the Best Actress (African Collaboration) at the 2020 Ghana Movie Awards.

Ghana Tourism Authority Bans The Premiering Of Kobi Rana’s Movie “Freedom & Justice” | Full Details

The Ghana Tourism Authority have banned the premiering of Kobi Rana’s movie “Freedom and Justice” by serving notice to venues designated to show the movie.

Per arrangement the movie was to be premiered tomorrow 25th and 26th December across some venues in the country.

However, Kobi Rana has been prevented by the Ghana Tourism Authority by serving notices to these venues to not show the movie.

According to a post shared by Kobi Rana on his Instagram page, these venues were warned and later locked by armed police men.

He however apologised for the inconvenience and assured that the over 2,000 who bought the tickets will get their monies back.

Ghana Movie Awards 2020: Check Full List Of Nominees

The nominees for this year’s Ghana Movie Awards have been announced.

Yvonne Nelson’s film “Fix Us’ which made it to Netflix received the most nominations alongside “Ogbozo’ with over 17 nominations.

“Heroes of Africa”, a film by Frank Gharbin and Habiba Sinare & Umar Klupp’s film titled ‘I8’ had 16 and 13 nominations respectively.

As usual, the likes of Yvonne Nelson, Yvonne Okoro, Alexandra Amon, Habiba Sinare, Jackie Appiah, Jessica William and Emelia Brobbey gained nominations while Andrew Adote, Umar Akwasi Boadi, Bernard Adusi Poku, Van Vicker, Adjetey Annan and Prince David Osei were nominated for the Best Actor and Supporting Actor categories.

The Discovery category had actors like Irene Logan, Mona Montrage, Eric Afrifa Mensah et al nominated.

The Ghana Film Awards which provides a stage for Ghanaian actors and filmmakers to be recognized and awarded will come off on December 30 2020.
