Movies Producers Don’t Pay, They Owe Me Plenty Money Whiles Am Hungry — Kofi Adjorlolo Laments

Veteran actor Kofi Adjorlolo has lashed out at some Ghanaian movie producers over unpaid jobs he did for them.

In a viral video in which he was being interviewed by Joy News’ Ibrahim Ben-Bako, Adjorlolo strongly criticized Ghanaian movie producers for their unfair treatment, hinting that they are the reason some of the country’s actors are dying poor.

“Producers in Ghana here, they should respect themselves…old man like me, they call me to come and work and they can’t pay me… About seven producers in this country owe me moneys…why? And then I’m sitting at home, I’m hungry, and then when I’m sick too nobody pays attention… Look, we have elderly people lying down on their sickbeds and these producers owe them,” he revealed.

“Actors in Ghana here know what I’m talking about, these producers don’t pay!” he stressed.

Kofi Adjorlolo further explained that he left his over 17-year-old broadcasting career for acting and ever since he became an actor, he has been taken for a ride by the producers.

He said the assertion that he is worth $800,000 is untrue. “… Me! Me! Eight hundred what…?” he quizzed as if to say if he had that money, then he needs not to be angry with producers who owe him.

Dumsor Is The Reason Kumawood Collapsed – Akrobeto Reveals

Veteran Ghanaian actor turned journalist, Akwesi Boadi aka Akrobeto has blamed ‘dumsor’, saying it is one major reason why the Kumawood industry failed and has not been better till date.

Speaking on Nana Ama McBrown’s ‘United Showbiz’ show aired on UTV monitored by Modernnewsgh.com, the issues with electricity under the leadership of John Mahama somewhat in 2013 to 2016 is the genesis of their problems as actors and film producers.

According to him in the company of his actors, he said the dumsor hijacked them and made them stopped doing their work because there was no means to watch the movie so Ghanaians were not patronizing it as they used to do initially.

Dumsor was a big problem to our work. It was the beginning of our owoes because we weren’t able to work as we used to do.”

“People could not even watch movies they buy and we weren’t able to churn out more content for our viewers,”he said.

Akrobeto’s assertion comes on the back of the decrease in the patronage of local movie content because many believe it lacks quality which is ultimately leading to the ‘death’ of the Ghana movie industry.

The experienced actor admitted that the movie industry in Ghana is not moving in the direction they want but they believe with the use of technology, they can stay ahead of the competition.

Ghana was plagued with ‘Dumsor’ between 2013 and 2016 which adversely affected many businesses and led to the massive loss of jobs. The situation is not as it used to be, but the ailing movie industry is yet to recover.
