11 suspected criminals have been arrested in connection with the robbery that led to the death of three people at Manso-Dadease in the Amansie South District of Ashanti Region.
According to the Ashanti Regional Crime Officer, ACP Felix Kwasi Cosmos, the arrest of the suspects follows activation of police intelligence after a robbery.
“So far, we have picked up about 11 suspects. We are going to screen them and then we will take it from there.
We have also come to the mortuary to come and see those who lost their lives,” he said. It’s now that we are going to sit down to analyse the pieces of evidence that we collected so that we can see the way forward.
Yes obviously because we had informants, as soon as the incident occurred, we alerted our informants so some pieces of information begun trickling in.
We had to act fast to pick up some suspects to go and interrogate them,” he explained.The all-male suspects are believed to be linked to the shooting and killing of three people including the driver of District Chief Executive for the area.
The farming community has been thrown into a state of mourning following the killing of three, including 60-year old resident, Kwame Danso.
The attack which occurred at about 7:40 p.m on Monday saw residents running for their dear lives, as the robbers who wore no hood fired indiscriminately.
The robbery was targeted at one gold dealer, Elvis Aning .Recalling the incident Elvis Aning said the robbers demanded he hands over gold and cash in his possessions.
“I was evaluating my daily sales when at about 7: 40, three armed stoutly built men entered my office uninvited.
“Two of them carried guns and another wielded a machete. They ordered me to lie on the floor; I obeyed. Then they ordered me to hand over gold and cash.
“My safe was not locked so one of them opened it and took everything away. All the while, one of them manned the gate outside.
“I lost, in all, about 26,000, made up of four pounds of raw gold valued at about ¢10,000 and cash of ¢16,000”.

41 Ghanaians who were in Washington DC, USA, have arrived in safely in Ghana.
41 Ghanaians who are mostly students who went on an exchange program sponsored by the State Department of the United States of America have arrived safely back home.
They arrived aboard a South African Airways flight at 9.20 am today, Saturday, at the Kotoko International Airport, Citinewsroom.com reported.
This comes a day after the government announced that it has arranged chartered flights to bring back Ghanaians home based on a schedule drawn up by the Foreign Affairs Ministry even though most countries have closed borders due to COVID-19.
The evacuees are lodging at a hotel in Accra, and they are to observe the two-weeks mandatory quarantine period.
One of the students who spoke to Citi News said, “The exchange program was supposed to be for ten months. So we were supposed to come back on June 8. But we left our various states on June 3 and then we went to the USA to stay overnight and then we left.”

According to the Ghana Health Service’s dedicated website for the updates on COVID-19, Ghana’s case has made a substantial rise once again.
As of today, the total case count is at 9,642 with 44 deaths and 3,547 deaths. The number of active cases stand at 5,871.

Although the cases keep increasing, most Ghanaians have relaxed their adherence to safety and preventive protocols. On the other hand, the government has made an effort to open churches, schools and mosques with a personal conviction of hope.
