Breaking: NPP Parliamentary Candidate, Abu Kamara dies in a car crash



The New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Candidate for Yapei-Kusawugu, Abu Kamara has lost his life in a car accident.

He is reported to have died on the spot alongside two others in the crash.

The Parliamentary Candidate was returning to Tamale after a campaign event when the incident happened near Datoyili at about 10:39 pm on Friday, October 16, 2020.

The two remaining victims are said to be his aide and another passenger who were with him in his car reported to have crashed into an articulated truck.

The Savannah Regional branch of the NPP confirming his death in a short statement said, “With a heavy heart, the Savannah Regional NPP and the party at large announce the unfortunate demise of our Parliamentary Candidate for the Yapei Kusowgu Constituency, Abu Kamara. He died with an aide, Majeed Kotochi (Young Chief) and another occupant in an unfortunate accident at the Datoyili police barrier. May their Souls Rest in Peace. Amen.”

I Will Use Half My Salary To Establish A Football Team In My Constituency – John Dumelo Pledges If Elected As MP



Political aspirant John Dumelo is trying to convince his constituents to vote him into power in the coming election.

He pledged to set up a football team in Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency if he’s voted into parliament on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

When I enter Parliament, I’ve give half of my salary to Ayawaso West Wuogon. The first thing I’ll do with that 50% [of my salary] is to establish a football team in Aywaso West Wuogon,” he said.

Speaking on how he’ll achieve the many promises he has made, Dumelo said he will donate half of his salary as an MP to the constituency if he’s voted for.

We are tired of playing gala every time. It’s time to create the West Wuogon football club so that the footballers here can also get the opportunity to play in the Premier League and also go abroad.”

This is one of the many thing the actor cum politician has promised to do when he’s voted as MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon. Until his intention to become MP, we never knew Dumelo could be so kind to his constituents.

Electoral Commission clears 12 out of 17 to contest December 7 presidential elections



Chairperson for the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC), Madam Jean Mensah has officially announced the disqualification of five flagbearers clearing 12 others for the 2020 December 7 presidential elections.

The five who have been disqualified are in the person of Kwesi Addai Odike, Kofi Koranteng, Kofi Game, Kwesi Busumbru, and Nana Agyenim Boateng.

The Chair of the EC, Jean Mensa said in a media briefing on Monday, October 19, 2020, that there were issues with the forms of the disqualified persons.

She further noted that the Commission will report those that centre on criminality to the Ghana Police Service for further investigations.

In all, 12 aspirants were qualified to contest the elections.

Gov’t hints on reviewing its success in the fight against COVID-19 today



The government of Ghana has hinted through the ministry of information that the successes attained in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic will be discussed at the next edition of the Nation Building Updates (NBU) scheduled in Accra on Tuesday 20th October 2020.

The Nation Building Updates is a weekly event initiated by the Ministry of Information to provide stakeholders in Ghana’s democracy with detailed updates on key interventions executed by Government.

Tomorrow’s edition which has been themed  “protecting lives and livelihoods in the midst of crisis” will feature members of the government COVID-19 Response Team who will use the platform to review the progress they have made in fighting the pandemic after Ghana recorded her first case in March 2020.

At the moment, Ghana’s covid 19 active cases have reduced drastically thus 398, with 46,664 recoveries and 310 deaths.
