President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has disclosed that the second consignment of AstraZeneca vaccines to fight the coronavirus will arrive in the country on Tuesday, 4 May 2021.

This is in addition to the first consignment of 600,000 vaccines that arrived on 24 February 2021.

The President also noted that by 15 May, his government would have procured some 1.3 million Sputnik vaccines to help fight the virus.

Nana Akufo-Addo disclosed these in his May Day address on 1 May 2021.

“We are receiving 350,000 more AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility on Tuesday, in addition to the first consignment of 600,000 that came to hand on 24 February. By 15 May government would have procured some 1.3 million Sputnik vaccines,” the President stated.

Explaining why the vaccines are coming late, Nana Akufo-Addo said: “International vaccine politics and the unpredictability of the supply chain mean that we have not been able to procure the vaccines according to the schedule we had envisaged.”

He, however, assured the nation that the government is working hard to secure the vaccines “so we can hope to return our country, our economy and our lives to the normalcy we all so desire.”

His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has boldly and publicly registered his pleasure over the way and manner how his government has fought corruption in the country.

While speaking in an exclusive interview with CNN monitored by browgh.com, he said he is extremely pleased with the way corruption has been handled under his government in Ghana.

According to him, a lot of effort has been put in place to get rid of corruption since assuming the presidential seat and the effort has yielded good and positive results.

He noted that due to his exploits, Ghana now has a better rank when ranking the most corrupt countries in the world.

For instance, the [corruption] institutions that are in the country, when I came into office were very poorly resourced. You can talk all we like about corruption, but if the instruments at your disposal for dealing with it are weak and blunt, you will get no result,” he stated.
