The National Communications Authority (NCA) has shut down 49 Television (TV) stations for operating without authorizations.

According to the NCA, the move forms part of a continuous monitoring exercise conducted on various Satellite Free-to-Air Television platforms using the Broadcast Monitoring System (BMS) and the Radio Spectrum Monitoring System (RSMS).

In a statement, the NCA added that the monitoring revealed that some channels were operating without valid Authorisations, contrary to Section 2(4) of the Electronic Communications Act 775 of 2008, which states that.

‘Except as provided by this Act or any other law not inconsistent with this Act a person shall not operate a broadcasting system or provide a broadcasting service without a frequency authorization by the Authority’.

As a result, 49 channels have been identified to be operating without valid Authorisations from the Authority and are being shut down accordingly.

His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has boldly and publicly registered his pleasure over the way and manner how his government has fought corruption in the country.

While speaking in an exclusive interview with CNN monitored by browgh.com, he said he is extremely pleased with the way corruption has been handled under his government in Ghana.

According to him, a lot of effort has been put in place to get rid of corruption since assuming the presidential seat and the effort has yielded good and positive results.

He noted that due to his exploits, Ghana now has a better rank when ranking the most corrupt countries in the world.

For instance, the [corruption] institutions that are in the country, when I came into office were very poorly resourced. You can talk all we like about corruption, but if the instruments at your disposal for dealing with it are weak and blunt, you will get no result,” he stated.
