NDC Will Streamline Fishing Sector To Benefit Industry Players – Mahama



Mr John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on Wednesday said his government will streamline the fishing sector to benefit fishermen and other stakeholders in the industry when elected in the December General Election.

A statement issued by Mr James Agyenim-Boateng, the Spokesperson of the NDC Campaign Team, copied the Ghana News Agency noted that Mr Mahama said this in an address to fishermen at Gomoa Nyanyanor in the Gomoa East Constituency on the first day of his five-day tour of the Central Region.

Mr Mahama said to help promote the growth of the fisheries sector the next NDC government would ensure that fishermen took charge of the distribution of premix fuel through the formation of landing beach committees.

He said, “Fishing nets and outboard motors will also be supplied to fishermen at a very affordable price”.

The former President also said the next NDC government would establish a salt factory at Gomoa Nyanyanor to create jobs for the unemployed youth in the area.

Mr Mahama also said abandoned road networks in the Constituency would be fixed by the next NDC government.

He, therefore, urged the electorate to vote for him and NDC parliamentary candidates in the December 7 general election to enable him to roll out Free Primary Healthcare for all, provide jobs as well as state-sponsored National Apprenticeship Programme.

Jerry Rawlings To Bury Mom on Saturday



The late mother of former President Jerry John Rawlings, Madam Victoria Agbotui will be laid to rest on Saturday, 24th October in Dzelukope in the Volta region.

She died on the 24th of September after a short illness.  She was 101 years old.

There will be a pre-burial service at the forecourt of the statehouse in her honor. The body will then be taken to Ketasco school park in Keta.

The family also announced that the dress code will be an all-white attire for the mourners and sympathizers.

I Will Use Half My Salary To Establish A Football Team In My Constituency – John Dumelo Pledges If Elected As MP



Political aspirant John Dumelo is trying to convince his constituents to vote him into power in the coming election.

He pledged to set up a football team in Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency if he’s voted into parliament on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

When I enter Parliament, I’ve give half of my salary to Ayawaso West Wuogon. The first thing I’ll do with that 50% [of my salary] is to establish a football team in Aywaso West Wuogon,” he said.

Speaking on how he’ll achieve the many promises he has made, Dumelo said he will donate half of his salary as an MP to the constituency if he’s voted for.

We are tired of playing gala every time. It’s time to create the West Wuogon football club so that the footballers here can also get the opportunity to play in the Premier League and also go abroad.”

This is one of the many thing the actor cum politician has promised to do when he’s voted as MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon. Until his intention to become MP, we never knew Dumelo could be so kind to his constituents.

Electoral Commission clears 12 out of 17 to contest December 7 presidential elections



Chairperson for the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC), Madam Jean Mensah has officially announced the disqualification of five flagbearers clearing 12 others for the 2020 December 7 presidential elections.

The five who have been disqualified are in the person of Kwesi Addai Odike, Kofi Koranteng, Kofi Game, Kwesi Busumbru, and Nana Agyenim Boateng.

The Chair of the EC, Jean Mensa said in a media briefing on Monday, October 19, 2020, that there were issues with the forms of the disqualified persons.

She further noted that the Commission will report those that centre on criminality to the Ghana Police Service for further investigations.

In all, 12 aspirants were qualified to contest the elections.
