Let’s win this election to honour Rawlings – Asiedu Nketia

Published

on

Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), requested members of his party to work harshly to win the December 7 elections to pay homage to Jerry John Rawlings, founder of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital who died on Thursday 12 November 2020.

Mr. Nketia said the late ex-President despised corruption but according to Mr. Nketia, unethical activities have been injecting into the present government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In order to do this, he declared, the NDC would win the elections and “rid them from office.”

On Friday, 13 November, NDC journalists in Accra told him that “[Jerry John Rawlings] was the perfect way of remembering that he followed the ideals of the 4 June for which he lived and died.”

“We think that President Jerry John Rawlings’ legacy should be better honored by preaching his ideals of probity and honesty and ensuring the country is not ruled by corrupt people, nepotism, and those who live in their beds.

“And with his passing, we think that NDC’s biggest love for our collapse founder is to struggle to ensure that the rescue mission is achieved on 7 December and that we are riding these people of corrupt and nepotism.”

The flagbearer and Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says if he is elected in the upcoming 2020 general elections he will implement recommendations of the special prosecutor on the controversial Agyapa Royalties deal.

He claim the only thing that can save the people involved in this corruption scandal if they are found guilty by the reports of the special prosecutor is for them to return the money before the NDC is sworn into the office on January 7th 2021.

He made this known on Saturday when addressing the NDC supporters at Bosomkyekye in the Mampong constituency as part of his tour in the Ashanti region.

“They are trying to offload Ghana’s mining royalties through a shady deal called Agyapa and when we complained, they decided to hold on. But now what we are being told is that, the President has directed that the deal be taken back to Parliament and I know they will not succeed. Because the NDC is going to win this election and immediately after the Victory, those people who have looted the money from Agyapa should quickly return our money”

“Otherwise, we will work with the recommendation of the special prosecutor” He lastly warned

“Your QR Code Is Not The First In Ghana, You Lied” – Sammy Gyamfi Exposes Bawumia

Published

Just a day after Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia launched a universal quick response code (QR Code) payment system citing it as the first of its kind in Africa, NDC national communications officer, Sammy Gyamfi has debunked it with evidence stating it’s not the first time Ghana is experiencing such thing.

Vice President Bawumia speaking at the launch said, “Today is a historic day because we are solving a major problem here in Ghana. It is also historic because Ghana will be the first country in Africa to launch a Quick Response (QR) code payment system.”

“Not only are we the first country in Africa, but we are also, as far as I am aware, the third country in the world to launch a Quick Response Code after Singapore and India.”

NDC Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi on Good Evening Ghana on Accra-based Metro TV responding to the Vice President’s statement said, “This QR Code payment system that we are talking about was introduced by Ecobank and implemented in 2016/2017 so it not a new thing.”

It is reported on BusinessGhana in 2017 that “Ecobank Ghana launched a Masterpass QR, a smart merchant solution that accepts payments for goods and services from the mobile phone, providing micro, small and medium enterprises the opportunity to move from cash to digital payments.”
