NDC MPs Were Blackmailed To Pass Akufo-Addo’s Ministers With ‘Double Salary’ Case – Martin Amidu Exposes Nana Akufo-Addo

Published

on

Former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, continues to take the Akufo-Addo administration to the cleaners, describing it in his latest epistle as “irredeemably corrupt.”

He further accused the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, of blackmailing some National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament (MPs) with the double salary scandal.

This, according to him, was the reason why the opposition MPs passed all the president’s ministerial nominees, despite expressing grave dissatisfaction with some of them.

Amidu further alleged that one of the former Ministers of Finance of the NDC was in charge of the negotiations on behalf of the Akufo-Addo administration “which resulted in the NDC party outside Parliament instructing the NDC in Parliament to approve all the Ministerial nominees of the Government including the Minister who was yet to supply further and better particulars to the appointments committee for consideration before his approval or disapproval by the Committee and by Parliament.”

The former special prosecutor in an earlier report launched a scathing attack on Kissi Agyebeng, the nominee for the office of the Special Prosecutor.

He resigned as the country’s first Special Prosecutor in the runup to the crucial 2020 general elections over “political interference”.

This was after his explosive corruption and anti-corruption risk assessment report on the controversial Agyapa Royalties deal in which he said there was reasonable suspicion of “bid-rigging and corruption” as well as the likelihood for “illicit financial flows and money laundering” in selecting the deal’s transaction advisor(s).

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo accepted the nomination of Kissi Agyebeng as Ghana’s next Special Prosecutor, YEN.com.gh reported earlier.

Akufo-Addo betrayed public trust – PPP

Published

on

The Progressive People Party (PPP) has expressed concerns over how the country is being governed under the Akufo-Addo administration.

The PPP noted that the present administration has failed the people of Ghana in all sectors of the economy.

In the area of corruption and job creation, the party said, the government has failed.

Also, there is rising public sector debt as well as graduate unemployment and unemployment in general.

A statement signed Nana Ofori Owusu, National Chairman, said “The Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) wants to call on the government to work hard to redeem its declining image among Ghanaians five years after failing to deliver good governance to the people  and betraying public trust.

“A careful observation of the performance of the NPP government for the past five years from 2017 till date shows they have not lived up to expectations of the people.

“After five years in government, we ask: where are the jobs? Where the prosperity the Ghanaian citizens were promised? And where are the opportunities? More people have been poorer, rendered unemployed, suffered reduced standards of living, are living in fear of armed robbery, and experiencing impunity in the society.

“There is continued currency depreciation with the imposition of more taxes. Ghana’s public debt is soaring higher than expected.

“Allegation of corruption is higher than before and businesses are collapsing. However the government prides itself with policies that are not yielding any positive results on the lives of the citizenry.”

Alan Kyerematen Is The Perfect Successor To President Akufo-Addo – Lawyer Appiah Danquah Declares

Published

on

A staunch member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Andrew Appiah-Danquah, has publicly made a strong case for the presidential candidature of the current Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen. According to Lawyer Appiah Danquah, Alan Kyerematen remains the perfect NPP flagbearer to succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2024 general elections.

Speaking on Ghana First TV, the legal luminary stated that looking at the competence, character and charisma of Mr Kyeremanten and his contribution to the success of the New Patriotic Party since its formation in 1992, Alan towers among all as the NPP surest bet for 2024 general elections. He stressed that “This is Alan’s time!.

Mr Appiah-Danquah maintains that it is clear within the rank and file of the NPP that it is Mr Kyeremanten’s time to be given the leadership mantle in the governing New Patriotic Party. The basis of this conviction of Lawyer Appiah-Danquah is the fact that Alan Kyerematen absolutely meets all the criteria as set out by former President John Agyekum Kufour years ago.

In the year 2007 when the NPP was in a process of choosing a successor to former President John Agyekum Kufour who would represent the party in the 2008 general elections, the then President J.A Kufour advised the NPP with wise guiding principles in choosing a leader who has the potential to serve both party and national interest. In the wisdom of J.A Kufour, NPP must go for a leader, who when elected as flag bearer, can unite the party and make it attractive, can attract non-NPP voters to get at least 50% + 1, can unite the country when given power and can hold the power by governing efficiently and effectively.

Lawyer Appiah-Danquah asserted that, based on President Kufour’s criteria, the New Patriotic Party at this material point has only one person in waiting to succeed President Akufo Addo and that person is Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen.

Lawyer Appiah-Danquah again had this to say, “we the NPP know who will be our 2024 flag bearer, it is Alan Kyerematen. What we don’t know is who will be next to Alan and that is what the 2023 primaries is going to determine.” Our convention and tradition affirm this. Our presidential primaries have always affirmed the known leader and unveiled the next leader, he noted.

“The 1992 NPP presidential primaries affirmed Prof. Adu Boahen as the known leader and unveiled Mr J.A Kufour (as he then was) as the next leader. Similarly, the 1998 presidential primaries confirmed J.A Kufour as the known leader and unveiled Mr Akufo Addo (as he then was) as the next leader. The 2007, 2010 and 2014 NPP presidential primaries also endorsed Nana Akufo Addo as the known leader and unveiled Lawyer Alan Kyerematen as the next leader. The 2023 NPP presidential primaries will not be different.” Hon Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen will be affirmed by the party as our 2024 presidential candidate and the next leader after Alan will then be unveiled, Mr Appiah-Danquah stated.

Jean Mensa Is One Of The Best EC Bosses Ghana Has Had – NDC’s Stephen Atubigah

Published

on

A member of the NDC who has denounced his membership from the party, Stephen Atubigah has said that the current EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa is one of the best EC bosses the country has ever had.

According to him Jean Mensa and his deputy exercised their constitution mandate during the 2020 general election and did nothing wrong. This goes contrary to the views the NDC as a party hold about Jean Mensah.

The judge asked you for the results of the Presidential Candidate and you could not say it. Jean Mensa is one the best EC Chairs Ghana has ever had and Bossman Asare as well. Jean Mensa and Bossman Asare exercised the mandate given to them by the constitution,”

He noted that the NDC failed to provide their pink sheet in court after paying people to tabulate their collated results for them.

He also said those who were sent to the EC strong room to monitor the results went there to drink tea for three hours and failed to coordinate with those who were in the EC strong room.

“NDC spent a lot of money on resource people to tabulate the 2020 Presidential election results but you went to court without your pink sheet to defend your claim. Those who were sent to the EC strong room to monitor the results, one was taking tea for three hours and nobody in the NDC office coordinated with those in the EC strong room, and if Jean Mensa has done her work and declared the results, you are angry and went to court,” he stated.
