Former President of Ghana – John Dramani Mahama is very confident his party will win the forthcoming General Elections with or without the new register.

Leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama yesterday stated that his party will win the 2020 General Elections with or without the new register.

This assertion from the opposition leader comes on the back on the Supreme Court’s dismissal of the NDC’s case against the Electoral Commission (EC).

The Supreme Court, on Thursday, June 25 gave the EC the green light to compile a new electoral roll.

The court also endorsed the EC’s decision to exclude the current voter’s ID card from the list of identification documents needed to register to vote.

Addressing the public at a news conference on Thursday evening, the former president said no election rigging schemes by the “failed” Akufo- Addo administration will save them from losing their re-election bid.

“No politically engineered register can save this failed government from the inevitable defeat that awaits them in the next 165 days. With or without a new voters register, the NDC shall win this election by the grace of God,” John Mahama said.

This year’s General Elections is expected to be very fierce between John Mahama and Nana Addo.

Social Commentator, Kwame Obeng Asare known widely as Kwame A Plus says the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is aware he does not deserve a second term.

The former member of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) backed this with a video of the then Candidate Akufo-Addo speaking on the need to vote any government out if it does not perform to the expectation of the people who voted them into power.

A Plus indicated that the President has been the opposite of whatever promise he made to the Ghanaian populace prior to 2016 elections and therefore needed to be voted out of power.

“This man right here promised to reduce ministers. He increased it. This man promised not to run a family and friends government, today it is worse. This man promised a stronger cedi. Today the cedi is worse than it was. This man promised to fight corruption by using Anas’ strategy. Today he is fighting Anas. This man promised to protect the public purse. Today he is fighting the Auditor-General and everybody who is protecting our money so that his people like Osafo Marfo can have their way. This man used investigations by Manasseh Azure to conclude that the NDC was corrupt and rallied Ghanaians to vote them out. Today he is fighting the same Manasseh.”

He alleged that since the President is aware of the fact that he will lose the elections so he is working so hard to rig the election.

“He knows very well that he does not deserve a second term. And he knows the good people of Ghana will not vote for him twice After the dishonest, lies and failed promises so he is planning on how to rig the elections. That’s the only option left for him now.”

"No government has the automatic right to be elected twice. We should not give government the sense of the right to be…

“Ghana will become worse off if Mahama becomes President again” – Prof Stephen Adei

As Ghana prepares for 2020 polls, a lot of people are saying that the major opposition party NDC led by John Mahama could floor the ruling Government NPP, led by Nana Addo.

However, Professor Stephen Adei who was the Former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) has said that voting for Mahama could make the situations in Ghana worse.

This isn’t the first time he’s making such a statement and he’s standing right on it again saying that Mahama is not competent enough and well equipped with the necessary qualities such as strategic thinking, amongst others to lead the country.

“The above argument leads to whether Mahama has the leadership qualities to lead Mahama/Naana duo to make a difference in Ghana in the one term in four years. In that regard, I stand by my assertion which I made 16th October 2016…it still holds; John Mahama today as he was then, does not have the full complement of leadership competencies to lead Ghana, be it on vision, strategic thinking, selecting or leading even a team B, curbing the menace of corruption or prosecuting a credible development agenda”, he told Joy SMS host Kojo Yankson, monitored by MyNewsGh.com

“Ghana will become the worse off if Mahama becomes president again.”, Prof. Adei said vehemently.

He added that “the NDC did Ghana a disservice by fielding him as a one-term presidential candidate, who can serve for only four years.”

Continuing, he said “even among the narrow confines of those who contested him were better candidates.”

Those who contested Mr Mahama during the NDC presidential primaries were Professor Joshua Alabi, Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, Sylvester Mensah, Dr Ekow Spio-Gabrah and Goosie Tanoh

“But Ghana’s politics does not always produce the best candidates but those who ‘moneycracy’ and propaganda favour”, said Professor Adei.
