Liverpool, Man Utd & Chelsea compete to sign Dembele from Barca (Echo)

Published

on

Ousmane Dembele is never far away from a transfer rumour and the latest reports suggest Liverpool are one of three clubs to battle for the forward.

Barcelona paid Borussia Dortmund £120m for the Frenchman in 2017 but are said to be prepared to accept an offer of £85m.

And the Reds, along with Manchester United and Chelsea are thought to be interested.

It would be a lot for any of the three clubs to pay but the 22-year-old would be a cheaper option than the likes of Jadon Sancho and Kylian Mbappe.

Could it happen? Not for Liverpool in this window – but never say never in the long-term.

According to Spanish media El Desmarque, Barcelona have decided to sell Ousmane Dembele in the summer.

The report adds that Barca think it’s doable to get 100 million euros or more for the rapid forward.

The 2019 FIFA Men’s Player winner sustained the injury after clashing with Everton’s goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford  during the Merseyside Derby on October 17,2020.

The wild scissor tackle from Pickford went unpunished after Van Dijk was deemed to be offside but VAR also decided that it was not worthy of a red card despite its reckless nature.

As it stands, it is said that Van Djik may be out for close to seven or eight months.

Getafe 1- 0 Barcelona: Koeman’s Title Hopefuls Fall To Shock Defeat Of Their Own

Published

on

Barcelona joined rivals Real Madrid in suffering a shock defeat just one week before the first Clasico of the season, with Ronald Koeman’s men going down 1-0 to Getafe.

The Catalans came into the match knowing a win would see them draw level on points with Real Madrid following their defeat to Cadiz earlier in the day, but they spurned that opportunity with a loss of their own.

Koeman handed Sergino Dest and Pedri their first competitive starts as Barcelona players with Ansu Fati only on the bench. The visitors enjoyed the better of the first half and could have taken the lead had Antoine Griezmann or Lionel Messi converted one of their chances.

Barca were made to rue these misses as Jaime Mata gave Getafe the lead after 56 minutes, rolling home a penalty kick after the referee had pointed to the spot for a foul by Frenkie de Jong on Djene Dakonam.

Ansu Fati, Philippe Coutinho, Martin Braithwaite, Francisco Trincao and Riqui Puig were all introduced off the bench to try and turn the game in Barcelona’s favour, but they failed to break down a stubborn Getafe side.
