Mbappe picks Messi for Ballon d’Or.

Published

on

Kylian Mbappé has scored nine goals in 12 games for Paris Saint-Germain this season but said he still suffers from self-doubt.

After scoring 33 goals in 29 Ligue 1 appearances for the French champions in 2018-19, Mbappe has been restricted to just five starts this term.

He has nevertheless scored five league goals but backed the legendary Messi to collect the gong for world’s best player for a sixth time, telling Spiegel: “In individual terms he [Messi] was the best this year.”

“Sometimes I’m worried,” Mbappé continued. “I’m scared, if you fail as a player, you have doubts, and when you lose in a big match, the question is, is this the end of it? It was nice, but now it’s over!

“But it does not last long, because the good thing about football is that you do not have much time to think.”

Mbappe has scored nine goals in 12 games across all competitions in 2019-20 despite spending much of the campaign sidelined by hamstring, thigh and adductor problems.

He said another issue affecting him at PSG is the language barrier between him and German coach Thomas Tuchel, but said the 46-year-old makes certain words loud and clear.

Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has revealed that local players who play in the Ghana Premier League would enjoy a monthly salary of GHC1,500 when NDC gets elected into power in the forthcoming 2020 elections.

For some years now, players have been calling for better conditions for local players to prevent them from leaving the local leagues to outside the country in search of greener pastures.

NDC has said in their manifesto that was released 2 weeks ago that they’ll come and make things better by setting up a sports fund. This fund is intended to support several sporting activities in the country.

The Communications Officer of the main opposition party said the sports fund will support football clubs to pay players at least GH₵1,500 as a monthly salary.

“The NDC will establish a sports development fund. The government will furnish the account with enough money and also generate some from cooperate bodies”, he said on Kumasi FM.

Every club that plays in the premier league will be supported with funds to settle player salaries, an average money of GHC 1,500 will be paid to each player.

“Every club that qualifies to play in the CAF Inter-club competition will also be supported. The inter-colleges games will also be supported financially with this fund.

“ However, clubs that transfer players abroad will give a percentage of the money they earn into the sports fund.”
